Supervision
Private and confidential one on one psychological treatment is provided by an experienced clinical psychologist in a comfortable atmosphere.
What will happen at your 1st appointment?
Typically the psychologist will first discuss any formal or administrative items as necessary. Next, you are asked to explain, as best as you can, your reason for seeking psychological help. Then, the psychologist will generally check their understanding, ask for some background information and provide some feedback and negotiate treatment options with you. Generally the time goes very quickly.
Relationships are the foundation of stability. It is through our relationships that we receive support and gain the strength and confidence to meet the challenges that the world puts in front of us. Our intimate relationships can also provide us comfort, security and passion.

If you value your relationship and you think you might need counselling then you probably need counselling. Often couples don't seek help until the relationship has almost dried to a crisp and too easily crushed. So make the call and start experiencing those loving feelings again.
Supervision may apply to you if you are:

a registered psychologist working in a solo practice looking for individual supervision
-
probationary psychologist in higher education program, or 4+2 or 5+1 program
-
clinical registrar psychologist needing a secondary supervisor
-
Other professional in a field where supervision is lacking or insufficient
​The supervision is provided by Clinical Psychologist, Elizabeth Puhakka on an hourly basis. Current fees are $150-180 per hour.
Group Programs
Currently Line of Symmetry is running two group programs:
​
Circle of Security Parenting Skills program is an 8-week program designed to improve how parents manage difficult child behaviour and improve parent-child relationships. This program is running Thursday mornings. Bookings essential.
​
DBT Skills program teaches strategies to better manage negative moods, distress and relationships. This program has four modules with 6 sessions per module. This program will be running 5pm-6:30pm Monday evenings from 19th Nov. $50 per session or $35 per session with valid concession card. Medicare rebates $31.65 apply with a valid referral when 6 or more participants are present. Bookings not required.
Assessments
Cognitive Assessments
Cognitive assessments are typically conducted for the purposes of investigating the presence of an intellectual impairment or when used in conjunction with academic achievement tests to identify a learning disorder.

Parenting Assessments
Our parenting assessments evaluate the parent-child relationship, a parents strengths in the parenting role, identifying areas in need of improvement and a parent's capacity to change.

Fees
Line of Symmetry aims to keep psychological services accessible to all.
If you are referred to us by your doctor under the Better Outcomes initiative and have a mental health care plan, you will have access to Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. For most consultations, rebates are $124.50 for a clinical psychologst and $84.80 for a general psychologist. If eligible, we are able to process the rebate from Medicare the same day for you. For some people 10 sessions or less is all that is needed to help you get back on the road to psychological health. However, some people have more complex problems and if the 10 sessions are not enough, we offer concessional rates and payment plans to those experiencing financial difficulty.

How long are the consultations?
Our individual consultations run for 50 mins.

Fees are $180 with a clinical psychologist and $150 with a general psychologist.
You may also be eligible for rebates through your private health insurance. Check your policy or contact your insurer for more information.
Concessions?
Concession rates ($150 clinical psychologist, $110 general psychologist) are offered to those experiencing financial difficulty. Under a concession rate the out of pocket expense after a Medicare rebate is only $25.50 (clinical) and $25.20 (general).
